For the first post of this new blog, I decided to write about the major changes that occured to Drug Wars, the game based on the Steem Blockchain.
A quick reminder
For people who won't read this post on Steemit or haven't heard about Drug Wars, just a reminder : Drug Wars is a game where you must build an empire as a drug lord. It's a kind of Tycoon : you raise and update buildings to produce more drugs, weapons, and alcohol which will help you upgrade those buildings to produce more and more. Players can also challenge each other and try to steal resources in order to grow faster.
But that's not all : drugs production is also rewarded with cryptocurrencies. STEEM in this case. And that's precisely what made the success of this game. Without those rewards, I'm pretty sure there wouldn't be 10% of the actual players. Because at the beginning, the game paid very well. When I started about a month ago, I earned 1 STEEM to 1.5 STEEM/day, which represents $0.4 to $0.6. Not bad for a faucet ! But yesterday, with a drug production x8, my gains went to 0.08 STEEM...
The end is near ?
And now, the entire STEEM reward is gone, replaced by a reward in FUTURE, a token based on BYTE. The fact is the value of this token is ridiculously small : 1 STEEM=about 1500 FUTURE. And guess what ? My rewards dropped to 4 FUTURE/day ! 0.002 STEEM ! But that's not all, unfortunately.
You can buy FUTURE in game to build or upgrade your buildings faster. And the conversion rates are... well, I can't find the words :
And the opposite way, if you want to turn your FUTURE into STEEM :
I know the game is in "early access", but how can developers let this happen?
Early access, these are words often pronounced by the team when bugs or errors are pointed. But the main problem, now, is that they deeply changed the way the game works, and thus fooled all the early adopters who may not have spent so much STEEM in game if things had been clearly stated from the beginning.
In my opinion, this game, which has been on top of the charts of the best Dapps, will go down quickly, as lots of people played this game also for the rewards. I think the future of Drug Wars is quite dark actually, and the dev team should quickly do something about the rewards amount, and the prices in game...
