Today I would like to share a fun recent battle where I used Nidhoggr archon / summoner in a non traditional way for me. I usually use Nidhoggr with some major damage dealers that have their primary attack mode as magic. In this battle the ruleset has Counterspell ruleset in effect where all units have magic reflect that returns half of the damage to the attacker rounded up.
So in this battle I am not loading up my team with magic damage dealers and use a different strategy instead. I expect my opponent to use a lot of ranged attackers as the second ruleset in effect is Fog of War which means cards loose their sneak, snip and opportunity abilities. So it is likely that my opponent is going to use a lot of ranged attackers and maybe a few melee monsters.
As predicted my opponent used a lot of ranged attackers in fact he also used a ranged summoner to boost those attackers so our return fire taunt monster will come in handy and hopefully our hard to hit primary tank is going to hold up.
The first round was really brutal! We lost our taunt monster and our resilient tank, True Strike ability from their Risqruel Drath really played out well. At this point starting round two we took out only one major damage dealer on their side and things do not look great for us. In fact this is starting to look like a lost battle.
In the second round we managed to take out a couple of their cards, but we also lost one of our own and our Night Reaper is looking like he is on his way out! But you never know with Venka the Vile on your side things can turn around pretty quickly!
But at the start of round three Venka the Vile actually missed her big shot! But our Night Reaper came through and took out another card on their team. Our Night Reaper actually lasted into the fourth round.
At the start of round four Venka the Vile finally took her big shot and didn't miss and took out their ranged attacker. Blast did the damage to the last remaining card, but the second shot from Venka the Vile actually missed! And their Grayhammer Painsmith can attack from the first position and has a self heal. Not the best situation.
However our Night reaper comes through again and thanks to the Death blow ability he hits the last standing card on the enemy team with a huge 10 point hit instantly taking the Grayhammer Painsmith out of the game!
And so we score a nice victory against @yabapmatt and almost twenty eight SPS is our reward!
