"I Sing the Body Electric," by Walt Whitman, (1856) celebrates the glories of existence, and interconnectedness of all human beings. The poem explores themes of the body, its parts and its whole, the equality of all humans, and our interconnectedness to each other, as members of the human species.

An orchestra is comprised of many instruments, and must to tune to the other instruments in the orchestra to produce the beautiful masterpieces we call "symphonies." If one instrument is out of tune, it throws the entire orchestra out of balance.
The out of tune instrument is not treated separately, as an orchestra unto itself, it does not exit the stage and tune itself to itself. It must stay with the orchestra, and tune to the larger whole. If one instrument is allowed to stay out of tune, the other instruments will begin to fall out of tune, too, and again, they must tune to the larger whole of the orchestra.
They are not sent away to be tuned elsewhere, they also must tune to the whole. If the instruments do not tune to the orchestra as One, each instrument will fall out of balance, resulting in a noisy, clanging chaos of sounds, unrecognizable as a beautiful symphonic masterpiece, as originally intended.
A symphony is an analogy for our physical bodies.
One human being (orchestra) is comprised of body parts, (instruments) that are tuned to each other and capable of producing beautiful masterpieces. (symphonies) When a body part breaks down, all parts of the body are affected.
If one part of the body is diseased, it must be treated as a part of the larger whole.
If allowed to stay diseased, the whole body becomes diseased and disabled, each part affected by the breakdown of another part. Left unchecked, or treated as separate issues, rather than being treated as a part of a larger whole - One Human Being - disease rapidly spreads throughout the body, resulting in a chaotic mess, each cell affected by sickness, and unrecognizable as the masterpiece we were created to be, a Human Being.
A person's body is an analogy for Humanity as a Whole.
We are One Tribe, the Human Species, we are all members of the same team, Team People!
In the same way, our body parts have to be "in tune" with with each other for the body to function properly, cooperation between members of Team People is necessary for the survival of our species.
As long as One person is homeless, hungry, or hurting, diseased, disabled or deceived, oppressed, outcast, or omitted, it affects Team People as the Whole.
When we all begin to understand that what we do for (or TO) another member of Team People, we are doing for (or TO) ourselves and ultimately for (or TO) all the Members of Our Team, we begin to see choosing to Love is the only sane choice for the survival of our species.
Love Every One as Ourselves. We the People, in tune with one another, have the power to create magnificent symphonies. We all have unique gifts to share, and gifts to receive, and the best way to learn is by Doing.
What would happen if everyone began to operate from a place of loving each other as ourselves? What could we accomplish for Team People as a Whole?
It's possible. It only takes One. What you do for One, you do for All.
We have the power to create a new way of existing and thriving on planet Earth. We can choose to leave future generations a lasting legacy of love, peace and harmony. Every One has a Part, we All need Each Other, we are All instruments and musicians in a Divine Symphony, with the Power to create a beautiful future for each other, and in doing so create a beautiful future for All.
Love each other until Love is All, and All is Love.
Love is an action. Love gives, feeds, clothes, shelters, encourages, connects and cooperates.
Love never fails.
I Sing the Body Electric, I glory in the glow of rebirth, creating my own part, til I become One....
