@scuzzy here with another entry for another cover design contest. This time it's for "The Steem Chronicles Magazine", led by @GuyFawkes4-20,
@macchiata, and
@whatamidoing.
Full disclosure: I cheated a bit for this design. Yes, I'm putting it out there now. The initial sketch is not drawn by me. However, I did the rest of everything else after. You can say that I'm recreating art. That said, this method isn't the usual process I do when designing artwork. There were couple techniques I wanted to try: first, to design with ONLY straight lines; second, applying various stroke weights and styles; and third, shadowing and lighting.
Here's the final design I made exclusively for The STEEM Chronicles Magazine cover. I've included the design process below to feed your curiosity.
Design Process
Here's the sketch I used as my reference.
I drew the outline on only the right side so that I can copy and flip the right to the left. You'll see what I mean shortly
I added some finer details.
I flipped and copied the right to left.
I started coloring in the wolves head first. For no reason, I started backwards by adding the shading.
I added a two lighter shades in the empty spaces, as well as subtle lighting.
Next, I colored the rest of the design and continued with the same process as the wolves head.
Fin!
