We find ourselves back at the Castle Gardens Moorings in Leicester and you guessed it there used to be a castle here. I went for a wander today and took some photos and I was particularly pleased with the old castle gates.
It is literally 3 minutes walk from where our boat is moored and it's almost like a forgotten part of the city. Most cities would proudly have old historical landmarks made part of the very fabric of the modern city but it's tucked away and i'll wager a huge amount of city residents don't even know it's even there.
I do love the cobbled streets also and it takes me back to my youth when so much more of the city had these but slowly over the years they have all disappeared and made way for blandness.
The weather was a mix fo wind torrential rain and blue skies with sinshine. Typical 2021 weather and I was lucky to be here during the clear sky window.
It makes me want to spend more time in the city and have an explore to parts I remember from my youth but, alas, we must move on soon.
We will be back thoug!
