Hail to the Hive!
This time last year we were staying warm and cosy in our little Narrowboat Badger, cruising the canals and waterways of the UK. Exploring a country I had been away from for 7 years.
I am now warm and toasty in more tropical climes about halfway through our 3 month visit to Jamaica and sat sifting through video footage from last year. Feeling a little nostalgic I thought I'd lift and play with some images and make use of them here today, while I reminisce at the same time.
The plan is, at some point to return to this quite superb form of traveling but this recent trip is causing my thoughts te re focus on other ideas and possible projects. This has indded been a valuable sabbatical.
Looking at these photos from last winter I am smiling as , even though it was cold and our first winter in 8 yeats, it was quite enjoyable. However, I am enjoying immensely not being in the cold right now and this has been added to the list of reasons why maybe we should delay the boat thing a little. Just for a while while we look into some other ventures.
The boat life does give you alot of freedom in as far as you are taking your home with you as you travel the 2000 miles of navigable rivers and canals but.... and there is a big but ( I like big buts though, and I can not lie ). You are kind of tied to the boat alot and never really feel you can leave it safely for any real length of time. So I am also enjoying, and remembering, the kind of travel that is a little more care free if you will.
So A year onsitting on my laptop, in board shorts and a tea shirt, bare foot in December looking at these blac and white winter shots and thinking back.....Do I want to go back to this just yet or not? I think I want another mini adventure or 2 first. There's a bit of a Scuba itch I need to scratch too or I will maybe regret it.
Think another coffee and more thinking is in order while I mull over my options...
