Hail to the Hive!
Being back in Jamaica, where I met my wife @millycf1976 while working as a Scuba Instructor many moons ago, my mind has been drifting back to not only those days, but all my old diving spots. It made me realise that since leaving the Philippines I haven’t done any diving whatsoever.
Looking back at my Garmin Descent dive app, which syncs and logs dives automatically ( handy for lazy loggers like me) I saw that it has actually been over 3 years since I was last beneath the surface. Gadzooks! How did that happen? Not good, not good at all.
The one above on Oct 12 was actually with @diveratt in front of my old home. They were some relaxing and enjoyable dives as well.
So I have started to formulate a plan to do some diving and do some in an area that would interest me.
But (and it’s a big but and I cannot lie😉)
Due to having to leave the Philippines with all the covid situation and not being able to take as many belongings as we would have liked, I did sell the majority of my dive gear ( not my beloved twin hose though thats’s in storage there with a friend.
I have been scouring e bay for the right stuff for me and getting @diveratt and another friend of mine in ye olde Leicester to purchase them for me and I have snagged some incredible deals.
So far I have replaced like for like the BCD , buoyancy control device or Jacket for more or less what I sold my old one for.
I decided to get the same one as it will feel familiar and thenpurpose of this trip will be to get back in the groove, so comfort is key.
Now onto the breathing bits and bobs
I have also bagged two sets of breathing regulators, newer and better models of my preferred make, for less than I sold my old ones for! You got to love a good deal eh! I think some people are clearing out stuff they no longer use to pay for Christmas. I don’t do Christmas but cheers e bay santa!
Next up is location. Now 30 years ago I traveled through the Sinai but was not a diver in those days. This was back in 1993, so two years before I learned to dive and 4 before I became an instructor. So I thought it would be nice to return, do a shit ton of shore diving and generally just Enjoy the water and the Egyptian vibe. Sounds like a plan eh?

So I’ve found a llace that allows independent unlimited shore diving for a set fee so @diveratt and myself will be spending some time in the deep blue and as it’s shore diving it will be like old times diving in front of where we lived. I have to say I am getting rather excited 😊.
Now Wednesday is Odins day so from now on every Wednesday in honour of the all father I will be doing 100% power ups.
