There are many cultural and historical places in Odesa that I never tire of talking about. However, they come here first of all to the sea: to walk along the coast, to breathe the salty air, to meet the dawn in the arms of gentle waves. When you are in Odesa - be sure to take a walk on the sea and look at the city from the sea.
This is exactly what I did in the summer and almost forgot to tell. Although I'm sure many will definitely be interested!
When and where do sea walks take place?
Boat trips along the Black Sea coast are organized from April to October. When it is still warm. After all, agree, when it is only 5 degrees outside, it will be quite cold on the high seas.
There are several options to get on the deck of a pleasure boat. The most popular is to arrange a tour through a travel agency if you travel this way or just come to the Potemkin Stairs. There you will find a lot of offers for any budget. From a group trip to renting a yacht for several people.
Since this was our first experience and no one knew if he had seasickness, we chose the cheapest option - a pleasure boat that can accommodate up to 250 people.
The duration of the walk is 40-50 minutes. The ship goes to the open sea, sails along the coast to the beach "Dolphin" and returns to the sea station.
At this time, the guide interestingly tells passengers about the history of Odesa and the seaport, and the girl with the camera offers to take a photo by heart because at the exit you will be surprised.
Spoiler: at the exit, you will be offered to buy 2 simple plastic keychains with your photo for about 2-3 dollars.
Departures take place almost every 30 minutes on different vessels daily from 10:00 to 20:00. Ticket prices start at $5 per adult.
My tips and plans for next summer
By the way, if you do not know if you have seasickness, I advise you to take a seat on the upper deck. It doesn't shake so much while driving. And the landscape is much better!
Also bring water with you, although usually there is a mini shop on such boats, it is better to take care of it in advance. And one more. Be sure to bring a phone or camera mount. After all, taking pictures personally was quite scary for me. I didn't want my smartphone to fall overboard.
Next year I plan to rent a yacht for a small company and spend more time at sea to better enjoy it all. And my dream is to meet the dawn or sunset on the high seas.
Well, if I learn to swim by then, then, of course, I want to try this kind of active recreation as kayaking.
