DISCUSSION TOPIC:
True Devotion

BIBLE READING:
John 20: 11-18

Qs. 1, 2. See Questions HERE.

DISCUSSION:

Yesterday, we saw that it was Mary Magdalene who ran back to tell Peter and John that Jesus' body was not in the tomb. The two disciples had come to the tomb, verified what she told them and went back to their homes (v. 10). But we see Mary Magdalene remaining at the tomb probably pondering what had happened to her Lord and Master. Hers was a show of true devotion. It is no wonder that she was the first to see the risen Jesus. How does your devotion compare with that of Mary Magdalene?

Imagine the joy that filled Mary Magdalene's heart and the expression on her face and the tone of her voice as she met the disciples again and told them, "I have seen the Lord" (v. 18). God's promise is, "you will seek me and find me when you seek me with all your heart" (Jeremiah 29:13). Are you truly seeking God with all your heart like Mary Magdalene?

And so:

How much you love the Lord shows in times of crisis or trials.

Prayer:

Lord, give me a heart that loves You more than every other person or thing in my life.
