DISCUSSION TOPIC:
The Arrester Was Arrested

BIBLE READING:
Acts 9: 1-9

Qs. 1, 7. See Questions HERE.

DISCUSSION:

Read vs. 1-2 again. Imagine that you were a member of the early Church and going through the havoc and precarious situation that Saul was causing the new and upcoming Church. How would you feel? What kind of prayer would you be praying for Saul?

Note that Saul was a young man (Acts 7:58), yet he had such a great access to the highest religious and political authorities of the land and could enlist their support to carry out his persecution to the Church (v. 1; 22:5).What does this teach us about the youth?

The case of Saul is that of a sincere, but misguided zeal of someone who thought he was serving God. Although, he was highly educated, he was spiritually blind. He was depending on his own righteousness and not on the righteousness of God (Romans 9:30-33; Philippians 3:3-7). Many, like Saul, are so self-righteous that they do not see the need for the Saviour. Some are destroying our churches and killing us in the name of serving God. What can we learn from Saul in vs. 3-5 about such people?

So what?

Never give up praying for those that are opposing and persecuting the Church. The Lord knows how to arrest them at his own appointed time.

Prayer:

Father, deliver your Church from the hands of persecutors. Arrested them to confess Christ.
