Note that God knows every detail of our lives, including our names, addresses, origin, and what we are doing moment by moment (vs. 10-12). While we are free to express our fears about the assignment that God is asking us to undertake for him like Ananias (vs. 13-14), we must believe God enough to step out in obedience and carry out his errand (v. 17).
What lesson is there for us in Ananias addressing Saul, his former persecutor, as "Brother Saul" *(v. 17)? The kind of treatment and reception new converts receive in the first days of their Christian life greatly influence the way they will continue in faith.
Read vs. 15-16 again. What was God's purpose for Saul? Note that while Saul was going about persecuting the Church, the purpose of God for his life remained intact. However, God needed someone to convey this to him. What do you think would have happened to God's purpose for Saul had Ananias refused to obey God? God is still looking for faithful and obedient disciples who he can use to help the teeming young people discover his purpose for their lives.
Consider joining the SU group in your vicinity to reach out to young people and help them come into God's purpose for their lives.
Lord, help me to always act on your commands, and not on my feelings and ideas.
