We are having a wimpy winter, with very little snow so far. Just lots of clouds and fog and drabness. The temperature got down to 11 degrees earlier this week, and that was chilly enough for me. I don't miss the wintry weather we used to get in Minnesota, and which they are getting right now. When we lived in MN, I used to keep the shades and/or draperies closed when it got really cold outside. I don't do it very often here, partly because I really need to see daylight, even if it's just gray and drab. Of course, it's usually bright and sunny when it's the coldest, and then I really don't want to shut out the sunshine; I struggle with SAD and I need all the brightness I can get.
You sound well-prepared for the storm. It's nice to be able to stay inside and look out at it, rather than go out into it.
