A few years ago I read an interesting book called "Chasing the Scream: The First and the Last Days of the War on Drugs" by Johann Hari. It is a carefully researched and well-written book. I highly recommend it to anyone who is interested in how the "war" got started, and why it isn't working. It should be available through your local library.
