It's interesting to see how many different ways people end up in their careers. My brother went back to school at age 36 to become a computer programmer. He is retired now. I don't know exactly why he chose that career, but it was perfect for him; he is an introvert, and didn't have to interact with other people all the time. My husband became an electrician simply because that particular program of instruction was free at the time and there were openings for the class, and he didn't have much money. He ended up liking it, but didn't always like the companies he worked for. I went to college because I had earned scholarships and because it was important to my parents for each of their children to have a college education. (That was in the 1970s.) I sort of stumbled into being a teacher, and later found out I hated teaching. I don't have the right personality for it. Fortunately, I soon got married an didn't have to teach any longer.
