Hey Derrick!

It's been awhile! In case you don't recognize my name, I'm the Scott or Scotter who was living at Jeff's house in Austin when you brought your band through, played, stayed a night, and chatted on the patio with.

I want to comment on this article and why I love it. I grew up hippy as hell, mom and I hitchhiking around the States and living with whoever would take us in. She had me at age 16 and we sorta grew up together. She was full on 60's hippy. We lived in nudist colonies, communes, co-ops, garages, tents, and everything in between. It was a grand adventure! During those years I experienced quite a bit of "new agey" thought before "new age" was a thing.

Nowadays, I see/hear a certain amount of discounting of "this reality" or "material world" or whatever you want to call it. I often think, "Yes, spirituality (which to me is merely self-knowing) is super important, BUT not at the expense of this physical realm we inhabit! My belief is that we have only the tiniest understanding of how THIS world works, including - for example - our minds! For me, it would be folly to discount the importance of understanding the discoveries yet to be made. For example, nature, nutrition, the oceans, quantum physics, and nanotech, to name a few.

Thanks for hearing me, brother! Oh and thank you also for putting the time and energy into bringing one of your dreams (freedom cells) to all of us! I've met quite a few people through that system at a time where I consider it super important to strengthen our networks!
