Flattery House, named after the last residents that lived there.
Jordan River was once a thriving community and has since become almost completely abandoned. Once populated by fishermen, miners and loggers is now just a shell of its former self. All that remains is an active log sorting area and a cafe. The spot is very popular with surfers and stand up paddle boards. The town was established in the early 1900s but the population began an exodus after a copper mine flooded in 1963.
The construction of the Jordon River dam and subsequent seismic studies that were done found that the area was an earthquake flood plain. BC Hydro bough up all the house and surrounding area to ensure that no development could ever take place in Jordon River. Most of the original buildings were torn down but there are a remain few.
For now these beautiful ocean front homes slowly succumb to the elements and are an artists canvas.
