RE: Is anti-viral interferon response a boon to SARS-CoV-2?
Well, the reason for needing a new flu vaccine every year is because of the existence of multiple strains. You don't know which strains are going to hit this year. Based on data on ongoing infections a

The mechanism of resistance to antibiotics (the anti bacterial) drugs and to antivirals drugs are quite different. For instance a bacteria may acquire an enzyme capable of degrading the antibiotic. The

RE: How bats carry viruses without getting sick. Journal club
Well there is this idea that if we understand how bats tolerate the coronavirus we can try to mimic the same with drugs. The Orf3a of SARS and SARS2 (covid19) has been implicated in activating nlrp3 pathway

Very well articulated. And it is very important for letting the doctors choose if and when the anti inflammatory drugs should be given. And a good doctor who cares and can make that choice is very crucial.

RE: Pandemic Economics
Really nice article. Loved it. I was telling this to someone the other day that it is not as if, you open everything and let people die. If people die you lose human resource. Human resources will also

Lol. I think after knowing this one would need even bigger balls to consume uncooked bats though! 😂

@gentleshaid @enforcer48 I will try to address those questions in this common reply. I think I need to add a little more perspective into it. Every time, there is an external pathogen or even internal

I love this idea. I am a PhD student in cell biology working on fibroblast heterogeneity in wound healing, fibrosis and tumor stroma. Though that work has been on hold since lockdown. As of now we have

RE: Data analysis on corona spread in China: 1/22-2/08
Makes me wonder why should it be a quadratic or cubic function? Assuming the virus has just began to spread and there are still no countermeasures in place should it not be like some exponential function

Oh well that is a very resourceful tool you shared there. I will be exploring this more. Thanks.

Good to see the fire on the torch is still on. May it burns no one but itself in hands of the last torch bearer.

Thanks @agmoore2. As far her nurture and my reasearch is concerned I have learnt a lot about affects of stress during early childhood on rest of the life. And I keep telling anyone involved in taking care

Thanks for pointing this out. There was some mix of HTML and markup on steemstem editor. But after you pointed it out I checked on steemit and it looked teratogenic. Anyhow, fixed it. Thanks. 🙂

RE: Did Neutrinos Save The Universe From Annihilation?
I don't think I understood how neutrinos explain the asymmetry. Nevertheless, it looks interesting, I will try and read more on it to see if I can wrap my head around this.

That is quite an interesting question from philosophical point of view. I think the ship even though it replaces it's material over time stays the same ship, however if you take the old material and

A very interesting and comprehensive post. I really like the concept of molecular memory. Biology has used this kind of memory since it started. The classical examples would be retinal in our eyes. The
