Thank you for your post. Your comments on plagiarism are spot on, but I wouldn't go so far as to not at least refer to other people’s content. I believe that's impossible.

We can't get through life or progress further without some knowledge foundation. I spent half my life in energy production, water chemistry, and radiation health. Even then, I seek to reference the work of others and seldom rely on ā€this is my backgroundā€ as a reference.

I try to take the college citation approach to my articles. Follow a similar pattern, and I feel you'll be ok. Of course, I feel the citation approach I write of is best applied to STEM.
