I feel the biggest detractor from your comments is our conflicting interests. We kind of need to see past them so we can recognize the dangers our actions have upon the Earth.

All your points are spot-on, there's nothing I can argue against, nor would I in the case of your article. I would only like to recommend to please space out your writing so that it is easier to read. Consider also, perhaps, the use of markdown to highlight and categorize your work.
