Great looking place - strongly reccomend making the most out of it to gain a certain level of indipendence when it comes to food - but seems like you are on a good direction onto this road. :)

Would not install any watering system at this point - leaving the grass on the ground like you already do, will most likely gather enough dew to keep everything watered to the minimum, slightly bigger but fluffy grass piles will also hold water for some time. Let them build strong and deep roots - sometimes torturing them a little comes with a lot of benefit in the end (not the ones actually flowering or close to harvesting for sure).
