IMO the better way would be to add Gladiator-Cards to the Untamed-Set. In this case they wouldn't be playable in modern and the Ruleset "Are You Not Entertained?" can still be active as in modern

One moment my friend, maybe you missunderstand one point - the Top-3-bonus won't be taken completely away, he will (when the proposal is successfull) only removed for Crowns and Merrits but he should stay

Maybe you can then see it as a (small) sacrifice for the entire ecosystem, because the guilds in places 4-10 will receive higher rewards in the future if the proposal is successful, so nothing is lost,
