I look up, and what do I see
A golden ray of sun reaching for me
Immediate warmth and light
Promise to shine through the night
To keep the monsters from past away
So I can focus on today
Chasing off the unknown storm of the future
So I can move on from here
When I look back
I see the terrifying past
I wish I could erase that
But the light helps remove the pain
Helps to dance in the rain
Even the sun will have to leave
Stop shining on you and me
To shine on someone else's life
But the moon and stars will still give light
The sun, moon, and stars will never truly leave
We just have to be hopeful to see
We have to look to light, but be aware of dark
We have to change ourselves, yet stay who we are
We must learn from mistakes
Do our best, whatever it takes
We have support from friends and family
I thank the sunshine for reminding me
