With new business ideas, look at what is around you. Who is doing well? Who is struggling, and why are they struggling (is it their approach, or the market)?

Remember, you don't need to be better than everyone in order to make a succesful business - you just need to be better to your customers than the next best / easiest option.

I think the thing that stalls a lot of new businesses going from idea conception to start up is the relevant laws, insurances, and start-up costs invovled.
