I used to love GITEX when I lived in Dubai (about 20 years ago!).

I always found though that they were lacking in the current tech markets. It would be somewhere between 3 months and 1 year out of date vs the rest of the world. This was especially true when you tried to purchase PC's and periphials. I really hope that they are leading the market now rather than trailing slightly behind it.

One fond memory - being able to use keyboard command shortcuts on Windows 3.1 - and then causing havoc on the display PC's at GITEX. They thought that by removing the mouse people wouldn't be able to switch tabs, drop to cmd prompt, etc.. lol. The good old days.
