Splinterlands is becoming a more challenging game. More now than ever.
With the arrival of players who do everything in their power to rent max cards and make sure they win, it is becoming more and more difficult to reach higher leagues.
Am I spoilt?
A year ago, I used to reach the champion league every season and now it is a nightmare to try and reach Diamond 2. I am still struggling in Diamond 1 and now renting cards with the dec I so treasure but borrowing xawi's words - it is what it is. I have to rent so that I can reach higher.
Are the rewards from the loot chests worth it?
It depends on luck and also remember the fact that the price appreciates with time. Look at how costly some cards turned out to be and don't even remind me of the gold chickens I sold.
Renting
Now I am renting some cards so that I can reach my desired league earlier and then hope to restore my energy capture rate but at this rate, I am not even sure I can do it. I am happy that I am reaching this level though with whatever cards I do have which is not quite bad I guess and I also hope to get some of the Chaos cards that look good.
More village people
Village people is a term I learned from the Neoxian citizens, especially Xawi and Burl who use it often and Ife too I guess. With more players coming on board, it is getting to be tougher and with the general sale, many will be maxing their cards and that means more competition. "Well, when the going gets tough, the tough get going. It is what it is."
Strategies
There are a few things one can do if you are a splinterlands player.
- Stop complaining and start thinking

- challenge matches are a good way of learning
- participate in tournaments
- participate in discussions on the splinterlands server and other such chaats
- make sure you do not miss playing daily - practice makes perfect
- try to invest in a card, daily
- lookout for what cards the top players use mostly
- read posts by top players like xawi and others
- if you think you got an epic win, copy the link and share it in the epic battle on the spl server
Make sure you do not give up in exasperation and desperation.
