CHEAT SHEET - Mouse and Numeric Keypad
PROBLEM: Old mouse, left-click not working properly
- SWAP the buttons (right becomes left)
Quick command (paste into the Win+R dialog):
Code
powershell -Command "Add-Type -MemberDefinition '[DllImport("user32.dll")] public static extern bool SwapMouseButton(bool f);' -Name M -Namespace W; [W.M]::SwapMouseButton($true)"
- REVERT to normal settings
Command to revert:
Code
powershell -Command "Add-Type -MemberDefinition '[DllImport("user32.dll")] public static extern bool SwapMouseButton(bool f);' -Name M -Namespace W; [W.M]::SwapMouseButton($false)"
Or manually: Settings > Bluetooth & devices > Mouse > Primary mouse button > Left
- MOST PRACTICAL SOLUTION: Using the Numeric Keypad as a mouse
Enable / Disable:
Left Alt + Left Shift + Num Lock
Menu path:
Settings > Accessibility > Mouse > Mouse Keys > On
Usage (Num Lock must be on):
8 / 2 / 4 / 6 = move the cursor
5 = LEFT-click
- followed by 5 = RIGHT-click
/ followed by 5 = Switch back to LEFT-click
- = Double-click
- To TYPE numbers again
The keypad stops typing numbers when in mouse mode.
Press Num Lock to turn it off -> the keypad will type numbers again.
Alternatively, type numbers using the top row of the keyboard (Shift + number key on an AZERTY layout).
To disable everything at once: Alt + Shift + Num Lock
Keep this handy—it’ll come in useful.
