Hello! The DriveFS cache serves as the primary temporary storage space for Google Drive for desktop. It stores copies of files and metadata related to synced items, ensuring the application remains responsive even when the internet connection is unstable.

Even without constant synchronization, DriveFS keeps the files I open—or those the application preloads—readily available, allowing for faster access and shorter wait times.

However, this cache can grow over time and take up a significant amount of disk space. If I find that my computer is running low on storage, performing regular cleanups or reducing the number of synced files can help prevent this buildup.
