30 pieces šÆ
The problem is under money problems (more appropriately called money denomination problems) in elementary algebra.
Since the quantity of ā±500 bills does not depend on the quantity of other bills in the given problem, we will represent it using a variable x.
| Denomination | Quantity | Total |
|---|---|---|
| ā±500 | x | 500x |
| ā±50 | 8x | 400x |
| ā±200 | 8x - 50 | 1600x - 10000 |
We will add the totals of each denomination in terms of x such that they have a total of 15,000.
500x + 400x + 1600x - 10000 = 15000
2500x = 25000
x = 10
Substituting 10 to x in (8x - 50) which is the quantity of ā±200 bills, @chrisrice has 30 pieces of ā±200 bills. He also has 10 pieces of ā±500 bills and 80 pieces of ā±50 bills.
