It may be the tragedy of the Trump Administration that Donald Trump has not placed his faith in Occam's Razor. As I posted on Gab.ai, Donald Trump first attempted to replace Obamacare with Obamacare Lite; then he has decided to replace Obama Afghanistan Surge Policy with Obama Afghanistan Surge Lite Policy. He appears to be a little boy surrounded by "big people" in impressive uniforms, who tell him what he should do and what he mustn't do.
The latter are the same ones (generically) who selected U.S. Navy officers to command destroyer class ships, resulting in two recent collisions with huge cargo ships in the east Pacific Ocean. A little too much pot and Oxycodone?
Besides the usual military vanity which makes withdrawal distasteful, removing U.S. military assets from Afghanistan would create a huge gap in the encirclement of Iran. This would compromise the Neo-Con program to defeat Iran and to install a puppet regime (Shah of Iran gambit II). Since Iran is the bête noir of Israel and since Donald Trump is an ardent supporter of Israel, Trump cannot easily accept a weakened, hostile position regarding Iran. For American politicians and think-tank advisers, such a situation is virtually an anti-Semitic one.
The bottom line is that no greatness can be expected from Donald Trump. He differs from Barack Obama most strikingly in that he has credible evidence of U.S. citizenship and is credibly heterosexual.
