Even though I'm right here in Sylhet, I couldn't make it to the stadium, while Hridoy wrote history all by himself!
Friends, how is your day going? I hope everyone is doing well.
Today, I want to share something straight from the heart. To be honest, I'm feeling quite down.
The Test match between Bangladesh and West Indies is happening right here in our city, at the Sylhet International Cricket Stadium. Yet, despite being in Sylhet, I couldn't go watch the match live due to some family issues.
Believe me, as I watched the game on TV, I kept thinking, "Ah, if only I could have been at the stadium today!"
Missing out on this live will be a lifelong regret for me.
Let's take a quick look at how the match stands after yesterday's play:
End of Day 3 Scoreboard:
• West Indies first innings: All out for 356 runs.
• In reply, our Bangladesh team scored 386 runs in the first innings.
• West Indies came out to bat in their second innings and scored 7 runs in 4 overs without losing any wicket before stumps.
• That means West Indies is still trailing us by 23 runs.
When play started yesterday morning, we were in deep trouble—losing 3 wickets for just 88 runs and trailing by 268. It felt like the day might end in a disaster right there.
As wickets fell one after another, we slumped to 184 for 7. Even I thought to myself, "There's no saving us now."
But what happened next is something I will never, ever forget in my life.
Towhid Hridoy — 242 runs, 359 balls!
Completely single-handedly, the boy dragged the whole team up. His brilliant innings included 22 fours and 11 massive sixes.
While struggling at 184 for 7, he stood firm like a rock at one end, building a wonderful partnership alongside Taijul, Hasan Mahmud, and Taskin. In the end, he remained unbeaten with an unbelievable knock of 242 runs.
Meanwhile, our opener Shadman Islam couldn't even come out to bat due to an injury. That means we had to post 386 runs with only 10 wickets in hand. Despite that, we managed to secure a crucial 30-run lead!
This isn't just a double century, friends; it’s a strong message. And that message is — "We never give up."
I couldn't make it to the stadium, true, but watching this epic innings from home made me feel like I was a witness to history.
Today is Day 4, and the game is about to start in a little while.
West Indies is still trailing by 23 runs. This morning, they will first try to wipe out that deficit and then overtake us.
If our bowlers—Taijul, Hasan Mahmud, and Taskin—can pick up 2-3 quick wickets in the first hour this morning, we might even pull off a win!
I am not physically at the stadium, but my heart and mind are completely locked in right there at the Sylhet stadium.
That is all for now. I might come back with the final results after the match ends. Everyone stay well.
