Tear Lake
Located in Kaghan Valley Pakistan about 13950 ft (4250m) altitude from sea level. It is named Tear Lake because of its shape like an eye or drop of tear. It is a freezed lake even in summer. One could reach there from Naran City on 4x4 Vehicle to Lake saif al malook and from lake saif al malook you could hire horses to climb the Himalayan mountains or climb by feet if you have the energy. But it is advised to hire a horse and guide so he could exactly take you to Tear Lake.
Overview
It is considered as one of the highest lake of Himalayas. It normally takes 8 to 10 hours of trek for round trip. There is a base camp just at the feet of the mountain about 2 hours of walking distance from lake saif al malook and its is considerably plan area going alongside the snowy water (extremely cold) river. From base camp you will start your adventurous journey of climbing. You could see the beautiful picturesque valley from all around you.
Do and Don’ts
As this there is no hotel, shop etc near Tear Lake so it is necessary to bring Tent, Food, Blanket warm clothes, shoes etc if someone wants to stay in clear weather. Weather changes there dramatically so expect rain and even snow in summer if the weather is already rainy so avoid trekking to the lake. It is advised not to go there if someone has Respiratory problem as there is not sufficient oxygen in the air because of its high altitude. The best time to go is from Jun to early September.
You could see the melting Glaciers on the way so avoid by going on it. It could be dangerous.
