This picture was taken in this place.
This is lighthouse for islands in Seto inland sea.
Look this map.
Seto inland sea has many islands.
If you established a big lighthouse, it doesn't work.
They established a small lighthouse like that each islands for Russo-Japanese War.
It made in only 3 months.
Anyway, This is view on the Megane-bashi.
This Megane-bashi is from Yamagata prefecture.
Meiji-mura museum collect Meiji-period things from all over Japan.
Before Meiji period, we call Edo period, was closed to foreign countries.
Chinese and Netherlands were only can trade at Dejima in Japan.
Japan was closed it has many reasons.
One of the reason is they were afraid Christian missionaries.
Sometimes missionaries are closely related with colonies. We didn't want to be colony.
And some Christians didn't want to support Shogun (General of top in Japan).
Before Edo period about 450 hundreds years ago, Samurais battled each other in Japan who want to be the top.
But Christians think "Shogun is not the top. Top is the god."
This thinking wasn't good for Shogun. So they prohibited believe their faith.
I'll keep writing about Meiji-mura museum and Meiji period. See you!
