He appeared after the rain like a fairy and then ruled the sky. Rare are those who have seen the rainbow, and even rarer are those who know the story of that heavenly beauty. I don't know how, but my grandmother found out this secret, and even when I was a child, she often told me.

Once upon a time, thousands of years ago, somewhere far away in the sky, there was a beautiful kingdom called Niobium. Hidden behind the clouds, stretched an endless green expanse of high proud forests, endless green sea, and intoxicating meadows. The ruler of this kingdom was Mistrif, wise, just; a man who loved his country. He always cared for the fertility of the green wheat fields, for the love and happiness of his subjects. The main source of strength and energy of Niobium was the seven magical gems that lay hidden in the depths of the seven lakes that flooded the shores of the kingdom. From these lakes erupted a force that spread happiness, health, and love among the population of Niobium. Mistress wisely and justly ruled this priceless treasure. But the greatest treasure of Emperor Mistrif was his daughter. Although still young, she was of exceptional beauty. She was pure as the water of seven lakes and had a heart that provided love and hope to all. They called her Rainbow. So everyone in Niobium was happy and content. Well, almost everyone…

Not far from Niobium, there was an eighth lake. In it lay the most important, the eighth precious stone that could create the greatest good and the greatest evil. Only the princess of the purest soul could take him out. The land of the lake was the Land of the Chimera, ruled by the evil wizard Vasil together with his subjects - strange creatures with monkey heads, condor wings, and lion's jaws. This whole country has always been shrouded in thick darkness and a dark cloak of rain clouds. Vasil was a cruel and evil master, a vile friend, and the worst enemy. The only person in the whole world he loved was his son Dantes. This young man was always of a pure, uncorrupted nature because his father kept him away from everyone.

The days went by. One fine day, the young Rainbow walked through Niobium and reached the border with the Land of Chimeras. Darkness obscured the sun, thunder crackled and the princess curiously crossed the border and, despite the ban, entered the Land of Eight Lakes.

The water of the lake was resinous, thick, and boiling, spreading a pungent odor. Rainbow timidly approached the surface of the lake. With a gentle hand he touched the water and behold, the lake seemed to dissolve, and at the very bottom, in a shell, stood a beautiful diamond. He overshadowed her eyes and soul with his magical colors. She reached for him with her hand, but suddenly, the sky was filled with a terrible scream and she found herself in the clutches of Chimera, and the diamond fell into the lake. Although she struggled, she did not break free, so she fainted helplessly. She woke up alone, surrounded by darkness and silence that plagued her soul. Suddenly I heard the creak of the door and saw a person sneaking up. It was Dantes. He heard about a beautiful girl who was captured by his father and wanted to meet her. As soon as he saw her deep blue eyes and timid smile, he knew the princess was his. He approached her and took her hand without a word. They played. It was a new feeling for them. He immediately decided to run away.

Dark nights, while the moon slept shrouded in clouds, they crept out of the castle. He opened the window and went down to the ground. But suddenly Vasil came out, angry and angry. Ignoring his son's pleas, he grabbed the Rainbow and in a piercing deep voice ordered her to take the diamond of power out of the lake. Proud Rainbow refused. Then Vasil turned into a huge snake and stretched his long tongue towards it. A frightened princess stood on the edge of the lake and accidentally touched him. A diamond emerges from the lake. Vasil grabbed him and in a mad frenzy dedicated him to the God of evil. Suddenly, the curse began to materialize and Dantes disappeared. Alone and sad, without her darling, she grabbed the diamond and desperately swallowed it. At that moment, the rain stopped falling, the darkness disappeared and an onion appeared in the sky, spilling over into a thousand colors. The people of Niobium named him Duga after their lost princess, who was now more beautiful with her beloved than ever before.
