This species of plant occurs in moist to fairly dry coniferous forests; southern B.C. to Northern California, from the coast to middle elevations.
The Pacific rhododendron is the state flower of Washigton. This species sprouts well after fires and clear cutting, bringing a touch of beauty to the destruction.
