So I had a much longer original comment that I didn't post, because I like to argue. I didn't post it because I makes me come off as some kind of gatekeepy neckbeard super-tool. Aside from the first comment the only other points I had were that;

  1. Privateer Press is a more apt comparison, because they also make a table top wargame, hobby supplies, novels, and board games.

  2. Most people have heard of D&D, so it has a greater market share.

  3. WotC doesn't promote the "hobby" because you don't need it to play. It also doesn't make them money, so... ehh?

  4. The pre-painted minis are made by WizKids and despite the name, they aren't owned by WotC. They are a licensed partner.

  5. "snorty nasaly neckbeard voice" Actually, GW made Heroquest. (Seriously, I just found it out like 5 minutes ago while googling, lol)

See? Gatekeepy neckbeard super-tool. But honestly, your right, they do compete for a similar market share. GAMING DOLLARYDOOS, that hidden money that a significant other doesn't know about.

I want you to know it was a good post, because it made me think. Cheers!
