As both a resident of the island and a survivor of many ferry rides, I can verify these stories. Heck, I'm in some of these stories. I am shocked at how any of us survived our childhoods. I can think of at least... 2... maybe 3 times I should be dead. Like being stuck in mud up to my knees on the beach at low tide as the tide started to come in. Lost my boots, but I survived.
Also the real reason basketball was so popular was it was an indoor sport. It rained all the time, like 6 days a week. And when it wasn't raining, it was cloudy. I didn't see the sun for like 6 years. Maybe it would snow, but only like 6 to 8 inches on week, then it would melt off by the next week.
