Health is wealth, this is what we were taught back in school. But, it is sad that we consider only our physical health to be wealth. Not many of us know and consider our mental health to be equally or more importance. If you are not healthy mentally then it may cost you your life.

India is presently dealing with many sucides. The newspapers are loaded with news of young men and women committing suicide for unknown reasons. While some do mention the reason in their suicide notes, some don't even feel the need to do so. Recently, a young woman, a news presenter of a regional news channel leapt from the fifth floor of the building her parents resided in leaving her 14 year old autistic son on the mercy of her parents. She didn't mention the cause for her action and said that she herself is responsible for her death. Her parents were shocked by her actions and said that their daughter suffered from depression and was on medication, but such an extreme step was not expected of her. Yesterday a Delhi man who ran a profitable restaurant also ended his life in a similar way, but without leaving a death note. His wife also confirmed that he was suffering from depression. There are many more similar cases and depression is cited as the reason in almost all.
For these young men and women, ending their life seems to be the easiest bet. They never consider the plight of the families that they leave behind. The intensity of emotions make them forget their duties. It is important that every depressed individual visits a therapist and takes his/her medication on time. If you are suffering from depression and have suicidal thoughts, then here are few tips that you should consider.
✓ your family will grieve your death probably till they breath their last. You are an important part of their life. You have their support. You just need to talk to them.
✓ you are not a loser. You can achieve anything you desire provided you have patience. This is not the end, you can still accomplish your dreams. Stay strong.
✓ this time is not permanent. Today might be a bad day or this might be a bad year, but there is definitely light at the end of the tunnel. All you need to do is wait till you reach your destination. Work hard, and keep faith in yourself.
It is important that families of patients suffering from depression notice the first signs and take actions immediately. It is not a phase of life that will pass. Delay in treatment can cause a life. Depression is not a disease, it is just a condition that with timely theraphy can be treated.
