Henna is a natural dye that is prepared by grinding the leaves of the henna shrub. It is believed that this cools the human body and that's the reason it were applied by mean and women during the olden days however, thanks to modernization people now apply henna to enhance their beauty. And thanks to the demand for the same, it has now turned into a business. The simplicity of this natural source is lost and henna art artists have been adding a lot of chemicals to the natural paste to give that darker shade on their customers palms.
Henna art is now famous all over the world, but it was earlier an asian concept and people in southern part of India were oblivious to it. It was generally the northerners who had that talent in them. Till now, if you see an henna artist there is 97% chance that he/she is from northern part of India.
I love the intricate designs that these men and women spread on your palms with so much precision. I am not an artist and I can't draw a dot with that henna cone on any palm, so I appreciate them, but what I don't like is that they add chemicals to it. I am okay if I don't get that shade, but it should be natural. It is like we spend thousands to spoil our skin. I even mentioned it to an artist when he was home to apply it on my sister in law's hands and he said that they have to do what is liked by most and people like it darker.
