Yes, the path people like us tread can be a lonely one. This is why my end goal is a community somewhere off the beaten track where we my family & I can live out our lives surrounded by like-minded souls. Have been moving towards that goal for the last three years with a decent amount of experience growing all kinds of food now. It's just a lot of work. Not much time for the computer during the summer. Watering takes a good 4h. And that doesn't include the progress which needs to be made each day.

Interesting you are in Switzerland. I don't know Zurich but my American father had a chalet in Champery (he appreciated the Swiss banking system and the bribe-ability of Champery's mayor) and we would visit him from the UK a few times a year. He sold it shortly before he died and we never went back but Switzerland will always hold a very special place in my heart. Those were probably the best times of my childhood, just playing in nature.
