Your inward purity
Many believers do not know that there is more to accepting Jesus as their Lord and savior. As a result of this ignorance, they are unable to live victoriously over sin and temptation. They rise today and fall tomorrow; there is no consistency in their walk with the lord.
Despite the provision of God for them to live above sin, they still find themselves always confessing their iniquities and struggling to overcome the sinful world. Really, attempting living the Christian life without inward purity is like trying to fight a ruthless, heavily armed enemy with broom stick.
Infact, the danger there is better imagined than experienced. One writer says “The remains of the carnal mind will hinder the development of the spiritual nature”. The energy and time required in working for Christ is used in keeping the old nature subdued, even when it had been slain and buried over 2000 years ago.
Again, Obadiah 17 puts it succinctly that purity of the heart attracts deliverance and restoration but upon mount Zion shall be deliverance and holiness; and the house of Jacob shall possess their possessions. No life that is stained with the slightest tinge of sin would be allowed into the presence of the most holy God.
On the other hand, some people hold the view that what really matters to God is not the outward appearance but the inward purity. They believed that once a man is clean on the inside, there is no need for outward purity. But they err because the word of God clearly declares that “every one of you should know how to possess his vessel in sanctification and honour.
Beloved, be a true example of Christ’s follower in speech, action and comportment. Guard your heart against filthy thoughts, avoid being talkative and watch your mode of dressing. Be full of edifying words that will minister grace to people.
Both inward and outward purity make you a radiant believer! Let the transformation of your inward man reflect your outward man. May you receive grace to abide in inward purity in Jesus name. God bless you richly and happy new week.
