Greetings!
Language is something that's difficult to learn most especially when it's a language that we are not familiar with, or a language that's not our mother tongue. I'm used to my language just because it's my mother tongue and not only because of that, but because it's a language I grew up knowing or seen people speaking by my side.
Having talked about language which is a means of communication, I would like to delve into the topic of the prompt in Hive learners community which is all about, “Language.”
To be candid with my reader, I would say that my language is kind of not easy for people to learn nor is it too difficult to understand. All that's needed to understand my language is one's mind and consistency.
Not everyone born and grew up with my Yoruba language can understand it easily, especially when one tries to understand it deeply. Although there are peripheral parts of my language that can be understood easily, if one tries to be deeply rooted in my language, it would be kind of difficult for such a fellow to learn and understand the language.
Even, I that was born and bred up in the language has a limit to my understanding of my Yoruba language, most especially when it comes to the reading of the language, less I forget, we should also know that language is more than speaking as a skill alone, even the listening, written and the reading part of language are some of those things I would say that it makes my language to be kind of difficult to learn.
Although, I can to some certain extent speak my language and also listen to people speaking my language, but when it comes to reading what is written down in my language, it's always kind of difficult for me to read it out fluently, aside that, it's also kind of difficult for me to write it down very well.
It's kind of difficult to write it very well just because of the sound mark that comes with some of the sounds in my language. Some of this sound mark if not known or properly applied to the sounds would or can alter how the sound or the meaning of the used world.
So, if all the communication skills of my language are to be considered in the language learning, then it might be kind of difficult for me or any other person to learn and master the language, I mean the Yoruba language very well and since language is a means through which people express themselves to others, I would say that the Yoruba language is one language that can be so hard and difficult to understand and learn.
In conclusion, my language, the Yoruba language, is one of the most difficult languages that one can understand or learn. If I was not brought up with it, I would not have been able to learn or understand the language at all. Even at that, I'm still learning.
