MCGI Topic Review | Why Do we Sometimes Feel Far From God.
Occasionally, I am estranged to God in my life. I am not necessarily so because God has isolated himself. The reason is many times due to what is going on within my heart. According to Biblical teachings described in Isaiah 59:2, our sins have the potential to separate us with God.
Once we tolerate sin, guilt or disobedience in our lives we might begin to feel that we are not close to Him. But the thing is that God did not cease to love us, sin just creates a wall in our heart.
There are also periods when we get isolated because of issues and tribulations. We can believe that God is not listening when we pray and fail to see instant results. God however gives an assurance in Hebrews 13: 5, as He says, I will not leave thee and forsake thee. This implies that God is always close even when we feel that he is not. Emotions are subject to change, and the promise of God is not.
We at times feel so distant with God as we are too busy. We lose the habit of praying, reading the Bible and meditating on His words. The Bible provides in James 4:8, that, draw nigh to God, and he will draw nigh to thee.
This demonstrates that we too have our share. The moment I decide to return to God in prayer and humility, I also start feeling His presence.
It is possible to experience this distance at moments when God wants to test our faith. In Psalm 34:18 it is written, The Lord is nigh unto the of broken heart. In the times when I am weak and broken God is really very near.
Eventually, God never leaves us. At times, we are the ones that drift slowly. But when we turn back to Him with a real heart we will know that He has been there all the time.
God bless his word
Amen
