Why do people die is a question posed by many people. It is a very serious and sore question, and especially so when we lose one we love. Death is usually associated with tears, fear, and confusion.
I have been asking this question myself and the Bible is able to provide us with straightforward yet honest answers that enable our hearts to comprehend.
As Scriptures state, death has come into the world due to sin. It was not the creation of God to die. At the onset, God made man to live and enjoy His life with Him. However, death came with the advent of sin through disobedience.
According to the bible, sin came into the world through one man and death also through sin and therefore death spread to all men (Romans 5:12). This demonstrates that it was sin that leads to death and not the initial intention of God.
The other reason why people die is due to the fact that our bodies are dust and that they are not permanent. Life on earth is not forever. It is well stated in the bible that,
For dust thou art, and unto dust shalt thou return (Genesis 3:19). I know this because our physical body is feeble but soul is valuable to God. Death makes us remember that we do not live in our last home.
But it is not the end of it all, even when death takes place. There is hope after death according to the bible. Eternal life is what Jesus Christ came to bring.
He said, I am the resurrection, and the life: he that believeth me, yet though dead, yet shall he live, (John 11: 25). This reassures me and leaves me at peace.
To sum it up, individuals die due to sin and temporality of the human body. However, death is not the ultimate solution through Christ.
Those who believe and obey God promise them eternal life. This fact has a ray of hope and empowerment in leading a right life.
