The question that many people pose is the question of why people die? I have posed this question as well particularly when someone dear to me is absent. Death is agonizing, perplexing, and even scary. But the Bible makes us realize this truth in a straightforward and plain manner.
The bible says that death was a result of sin. At the very start, God made man to live and to enjoy His presence. However, with the introduction of sin in the world, death was introduced. It is written in the Bible that, the wages of sin is death (Romans 6:23). This demonstrates that death did not start as an intention of God to the people, but it was an outcome of disobedience.
According to the Bible too, everyone is afflicted by this. Therefore, this is where sin came into the world and of sin is death; and so of sin is death spread among all men (Romans 5:12).
This means no one is exempt. Be it a poor or a rich person, be it a young or an old person, all people die at some point. This fact has taught me that it is a humbling experience that makes us aware of the fact that life on earth is temporal.
But death does not mark upon the end of all things. The Bible gives hope. It is ordained to men one time to die, but then judgment (Hebrews 9:27). This informs us that existence goes on even after the grave. God is concerned about the fate awaiting them after death, and He desires that people should prepare their hearts in their lifetime.
In my opinion, death helps God to remind us that we have to approach Him with sincerity. When we are aware that life is not here to stay then life becomes more meaningful. Jesus Christ too came to bring hope even after death. I am the resurrection, and the life (John 11: 25). It is by Him that one promises eternal life.
To conclude, the death of people is a result of sin, and God gives hope and forgiveness and life through Christ. This fact challenges us to live a wise life, love a pure life, and walk a righteous life with God.
