Everyone has a dream of having a successful future. Like success in their career, success in their academic endeavours, in their family, having a healthy relationship, having financial stability, and living a meaningful life. However, a lot of people do not realise that the kind of future that they want is not created by just mere wishes, nor by just having intentions. It is actually built by the priorities that they choose everyday. The choices of today, the decisions you make, the habits you build, and the things you channel your time and attention to will be part of what will form the person you will become tomorrow. This means that your future is built by the priorities of today.

Just to make it clear, priorities are the things that you consider the most important things in your life. They determine how you will spend your time, energy, resources, and attention. You already know that everyone has been equally distributed the same 24 hours in a day. So what differentiates those who succeed from the others is not the number of hours that they have, but how they have spent the hours. The people who often prioritise what matter to them are the people who are more likely to build the kind of future that they want. You do not succeed tomorrow by chance, but by the good choices that you have made today.
I have come to understand that your priorities will shape your daily habits. What you constantly prioritise will end up becoming your habit. If you prioritise learning for example, you will gain knowledge. If you prioritise your health, you will develop healthy habits. If you prioritise your personal growth, you will work to become a better version of yourself. In the same way, if you prioritise negative things, like procrastination, distraction, etc, they will become a habit and will create challenges for your future. For the sake of your future, you have to prioritise the good habits that will bring positive impact in your life. Remember that what you do today will determine how your tomorrow will be created.
In addition to this, you also need to prioritise where your time goes. You have to understand that you do not have an infinite or limitless amount of time, so you need to know where and how you spend it. Time is among the very vital and important assets that you have, and when it is gone, it may not be replaced again. To create a successful tomorrow, you have to intentionally invest your time into activities that will take you closer to actualising your goals. That is, you have to make time for learning, to plan, to work, to build meaningful relationships, and also to rest. Do not allow distractors to remove your attention from what matter to your dreams. Remember that what you focus more on will determine how your life will turn out to be.

You also need to understand that your priorities can position you for future opportunities. Opportunities may come at unexpected times and from unexpected places, so it is the people who are prepared for them that will take advantage of them. So you see, you do not have to wait until what you want comes to you before you prepare, you have to get yourself ready, and prepare for the future that you want. For example, in your place of work, you do not wait until there is an opportunity for promotion before you learn new skill, you can prioritise learning the skill and when the opportunity comes, it will favour you. What you choose to focus on today will determine how well you will be prepared for tomorrow.
What you give a top priority in your life will become what will matter to you in the long run. If you focus on saving, investing, and budgeting, for example, in the long run, you will achieve financial stability. You cannot achieve success by just waiting for it to happen by chance or by luck, you have to work towards it, and put in the required efforts. Living your life according to your priorities is what will create balance and purpose. Always have in mind that the journey towards creating the kind of tomorrow that you will be proud of begins today.
