I have seen some people attribute success to be a function of someone's qualification, intelligence, talent, or even financial research. While all these are good, at least they can give you a boost, but they are not everything that is needed, and they are not the only deciding factors. Throughout history, even in this contemporary times, a lot of people with limited resources have achieved extraordinary and mind-blowing success, while some others with big opportunities and even good talents have failed to get to their full potentials. What makes the difference is attitude. This talks about the way someone thinks, the way they respond to challenges, and approach life. This is why it is believed that your attitude can greatly define your altitude.

I once heard a story about two graduates who were employed by a company on the same day. Coincidentally, the two of them had the same educational background, same qualification, and even similar certifications and experiences. So they were both given the same job responsibility. But their attitudes to work were totally different. The first employee would come to work on time, approached every task that he was given with so much enthusiasm, and took responsibility for his actions. He was quick to accept feedbacks without complaining, and also volunteered to help when the need arose. This made him to see everything as an opportunity to learn and become better. Even when he made mistakes, he would take corrections and then learnt from them to improve.
However, the second employee had some very negative attitude to work. Sometimes he would arrive work late and blame it on traffic. Then he would often complain about assignments given to him. And when something went wrong, he would look for someone else to blame for it. He only did the minimum that was required of him. Even though he was intelligent, but his attitude and unwillingness to learn and cooperate made people to feel reluctant to work with him. After a few years of working, the first employee was promoted to become the head of the department, while the other one was given just a one-step promotion. All these were because the first one had improved over time, but much more than that, the top executives could trust him more because of his positive attitude to work.
Your attitude affects your decisions, your relationship with people, your work ethics, and even your ability to overcome challenges and obstacles. Having a positive attitude does not mean that you should pretend that challenges do not exist. Rather it means that you have recognised the existence of the challenges, yet you have chosen to face them with determination, hope, and the enthusiasm to find the solution to them. It is not about living a fake life, but about living with the hope that things will get better, and then walk in that consciousness.

One of the reasons why your attitude can define your altitude is that it influences how you respond to difficulties and challenges. You have to understand that you cannot stop challenges. In fact, they are very important aspects of life. But the people who have positive attitude will not see the challenge as problems, rather they will see it as a way that life is giving them opportunities to learn, grow, and improve on themselves. While the people with a negative attitude will see problems, obstacles, and setbacks in every single thing. Having positive attitude will make you to see stepping-stone in challenges, while negative attitude will make you to see stumbling-blocks in challenges.
Another reason why attitude can define your altitude is that it determines your ability to learn. People with positive attitude are always willing to learn. They understand that they do not know as much as needs to be known, and as such, they always seek for knowledge and improvement. They are open to feedbacks, to constructive criticism, eager to acquire new knowledge, and willing to grow. But the people with negative attitude will resist correction, and they will believe they already know too much. This will make them to keep repeating the same mistake, or they will not even grow that much. What they fail to understand is that you need to possess a teachable attitude for you to continue growing, and for you to be open to more opportunities.
Your attitude also influences how you relate with people. And you know that people can provide you with the pathway from where you are to where you are going to. Having a positive attitude means that you will be respectful towards people, encourage people, and cooperate with others. This will naturally attract people towards you, and this can open doors that you never knew were possible. So you see, you have a lot of things to gain by having a positive attitude.
