In life, what you cannot run away from is change. Of course, it is part of the inevitables of life. If you believe that something should continue to be done in a particular way that it was done in the past and will remain the same way in the future, then you are missing a crucial part of living. With the way the world is evolving and the new trends emerging, the only way to flow with it is to upgrade yourself. Your relevance in this highly competitive world lies in continuously up-skilling, upgrading and updating yourself, because this is what will increase your worth and value. Change with the change, otherwise the change will leave you behind.

I remember when we were growing up, during my primary school days, when we wanted to type and print a document, we would take it to a typist, who will use a manual typewriter to type it. After which, it will be printed manual. If any mistake was made during typing, it would not be easy to be edited. Fast-forward to now; if you want to print the same document, you will type it with your computer device, edit and format it there, then forward to a print to print with ease. This is because we have moved from the old methods of doing things. If you do not flow with the new and the emerging trends, you will be left behind.
During the infancy days of mobile phones, if you owned a Nokia 3310, you would be seen as "belonged," but now, we have seen a lot of advancements and complexities in the mobile telephony world, that some insanely complex smart gadgets are being rolled out daily. If at this point, you are still bragging with your Nokia 3310, then it will be seen as something weird. Of course, there is just a very limited thing you can do with that device. As the world is changing, you have to also continue to work on yourself to match the speed of the change. Trust me, the world will neither wait for you nor bend for you, you are the one to meet up and flow with it.
Even in the area of knowledge; as the days pass by, newer knowledge emerges, new information is birthed, new innovations are heralded, and new trails are blazed. If all you know now is what you knew in the past without adding any new knowledge to it, then you are doing yourself a great disservice. It is to your own advantage that you grow in knowledge. Imagine being in the company of people making intelligent conversations and you are totally lost because you know nothing about what is being talked about. Knowledge grants you power and also makes you undertake tasks with ease.
The good thing here about the acquisition of knowledge is that it is now easier than ever, and has been made readily available. With the proliferation of the Internet and the advancements in Internet-enabled devices, one can connect the world from their devices and get any information that they want. If, at this point in time, you lack relevant knowledge, then it is nobody else's fault but yours. From the comfort of your home, through your phones, laptops, computer devices, etc, you can get access to more information than you would ever need to stay updated - both documents and video format. Not just that, you can also connect with others to tap into their knowledge. No wonder this popular phrase:

There is the level you will build up yourself and you will become an asset and almost indispensable in your chosen field. You will agree with me that if an organisation wants to retrench workers or cut down on their staff, they will not let their best hands to go, rather they will look for those who add the least value. This shows you how someone is rated when they can add value. It is worthy to note that the extent of the value you can add is directly propositional to what you know, your skills, the level at which you have upgraded yourself, and your capacity to deliver.

One of the ways to stand out from the rest of others is to possess the abilities that they do not. If you have what the world is looking for, even if they do not like your face, irrespective of your status, they will look for you. The reason why you are not sought after is simply because you do not have what they want. When you have developed yourself in such a way that you will become an answer to the questions of humanity, your services will become indispensable. It is true that you may not be able to know everything that you ought to, but make it a point of duty to continuously learn and increase in knowledge. This is because knowledge comes with incredible ability and power.
