In the world of today, it looks like a lot of people are so much concerned about quick results. They want quick success, quick wealth, fast achievements, instant recognition, etc. It is true that there is nothing wrong in wanting progress, but if you focus only on quick success, it may set a very dangerous precedence. If something grows too quick without having a good foundation, it may not last. Imagine a house that is built without first laying a solid foundation, it will not be long and it will collapse. Success will have to be built on certain foundations if it has to last. Here, we shall be taking a look at the strong foundations that one has to build if they will achieve lasting success.

The first one is character foundation. Your character is actually who you really are. This includes your integrity, your honesty, humility, trustworthiness, and even your responsibilities. You cannot hope to achieve a lasting success while neglecting your character. What you need to understand is that without having a good character, even success can be destructive. Someone's talent can grant them some opportunities, but if they are dishonest or irresponsible, the opportunities may fade with time. It is your good character that will make you to earn people's trust, maintain relationships, and make wise decisions. The truth is that the success that is built on a strong character will last more than the one built on just luck.
The second one is knowledge foundation. Before you achieve success in any area, you have to first know what you are doing. As a matter of fact, you will only thrive as far as your knowledge is. In your academics, business, personal life, profession, and even in leadership position, it is knowledge that will help you to make better and more informed decisions. You cannot hope to have a good result without first learning. Imagine someone going in to write an exam that they have absolutely no knowledge of. It is ironic how some people want result without learning. What they fail to understand is that ignorance can lead to very costly mistake. This is why knowledge and continuous learning is very important to get the achievement you want, and it will also open you up to a lot of opportunities.
The third foundation to build is good relationships. It is almost impossible for anyone to succeed completely alone. When you have a strong relationship, it will provide you with support, guidance, encouragement, and even opportunities. You will be surprised how lots of opportunities can come from the network of people who you have built relationships with. This can include your mentors, friends, colleagues, family members, teachers, etc. Just to let you know; people can open doors that you never knew existed.

Another foundation to build is discipline. Discipline is the ability or the act of doing what is required and what needs to be done whether you feel like it or not. This forms one of the requirements for achieving a sustainable success. You may be motivated to do something or maybe you feel like doing it, but what happens when the motivation is gone? It is discipline that will keep you moving forward. A lot of people who have achieved greatness did not achieve it because they are talented, but because they are consistent, which is discipline. It is discipline that helps you to develop good and productive habits, manage your time effectively, and remain dedicated to your goals even if things are going in an "anyhow" manner.
The last foundation that we will look at here is emotional foundation. There are times that life can present to you some challenges like setbacks, disappointments, criticisms, etc. This is why emotional strength is very important in order to maintain your sanity during the trying times of life. It is emotional maturity that helps you to stay calm under pressure, helps you to manage stress, and to make rational decisions when necessary. Always have in mind that you may not be able to stop tough times or challenges from coming, but you can determine the decisions you make at the point of challenges.
