The small amount of money you save on a regular basis may be what will help you to build your dreams in the future. Imagine walking pass a snacks shop, and then stop by to buy a snack of $5 just to satisfy your cravings. At the moment, you will feel good about it, but in a short while it will be gone. The truth is that a lot of people do this on a daily basis. They may think, it is just a small amount of money, and it does not matter. But what they fail to understand is that when you compound the small amount of money over a period of time, it will become significantly much. As a matter of fact, a lot of people have not achieved their financial dreams or freedom, not because they do not make money, but because they do not save any, and they just spend all of them. This is why you have to learn to save.

Some people think that saving money involves keeping a large amount of money at once. There are also some people that have decided not to save anything at all because they do not have large amount of money to save at once. They tell themselves that they will save when they get a new job, or when they become financially buoyant, or when they have more money. But what they fail to understand is that the secret of saving is not about starting with a large amount of money. But it is about starting from where you are, with what you have, and and then be consistent about it. If you cannot save with your present earnings, you may not also save when your income improves.
You have to look beyond the amount you are saving, and look at the cumulative over a period of time. Someone may say that $5 dollars is small to save and they will start to save when they earn more money. But someone else may be saving $5 dollars per day. They may even cut on the snacks they buy outside, and rather go to work with a food pack, and avoid other unnecessary expenses just to save the $5 per day. It may look small, but in one week, they would have saved $35. When you times it by one year, you will realise it is already in thousands. With that money, they can do something worthwhile with it; like taking an online course, buying a laptop, etc. This is just from the money that someone else saw as too small to save.

I remember when I was in school, during the vacation period which was about 2 months, some of us decided to pick up a vacation job. The job was such that we were paid daily at the end of work. Each day we were paid, some of them would use the money to buy things, spend all of them, and hope for tomorrow to go again. While some of us decided to be saving a small portion of it in a single treasury so that we would not touch it. The other people thought that the money was too insignificant and would not amount to anything tangible, so they did not see any reason in saving it. They were just looking at it from a daily point of view. But we were looking at it from the cumulative point of view after the 2 months period.
When we were done with the vacation job and resumed school, some of us who saved in the treasury shared our funds. Adorably, what we got was significant. There was this fee that we were supposed to pay in our department, we simply took money from it and paid and still had a little balance left. While the others began to run around looking for how to raise the money. When we were saving the money, it did not look much, but at the end of the 2 months, it was worth something. The little you save consistently will become much with time. You may not even see its significance at the start, but with time, you will see the benefits.
Each time you make a decision to save, even if it is a small amount of money, you are investing into the future. You have to understand that your big dreams are built by small moments. Do not wait for when massive amount of money will drop in your hands before you save. You can start with the small money you make, and with consistency, it will lead to a big dream.
