More often than not, it feels very exciting to start something new. For example; a new project, learning a new skill, starting a new business, a personal goal, etc. But along the line, when challenges arise, some of the excitements would fizzle. This is when you realise that it is not just about starting something, but about seeing it to completion. You have to understand that it is not the attempt you made that will be ultimately rewarded, rather it is the result that you have gotten. A lot of people have had some abandoned projects, or started something and leaving it halfway. What they fail to understand is that you will not be remembered for what you started, but what you finished. This is why you have to make it a habit to always finish well.

Finishing well means completing the responsibilities you have with commitment, excellence, determination, and dedication. It is not just about reaching the end, but about reaching it rightly with the right attitude, and giving your best until you have gotten the result. When people remark you for finishing well, you will earn their trust more, and they can rely on you. The truth is that when finishing well becomes your habit, people will entrust more responsibilities to you, and your reputation will increase.
In order to finish well, you have to start with a clear goal. If the reason why you started something is not known, there will be nothing to sustain you along the way. It is when you know where you are going to that you will be able to arrive at the place. By setting a clear goal of what you want to achieve, it will become easier to be sustained along the way. Before you begin a task, always define your goals and objectives. Ask yourself why you are doing it. This will help motivate you to keep going. When your reason for doing something is stronger than your strongest excuses, then nothing will discourage you from doing it. A clear vision keeps you focused, and it puts you on the right course.
In addition to having a clear goal, you have to discipline yourself to be committed to the course even when motivation may have faded. It is your discipline and your commitment that will keep you going. Being consistent even in difficult moments is part of what differentiates the people who finish well and the others who do not. Making a decision to continue going even in the presence of temporary discomfort is what will ultimately lead to a lasting achievement.
To make it easier to finish well, you have to prioritise your tasks. Sometimes, when you try to get everything done at once, you may end up not doing anyone well. But when you place each task on their order of priority, and then take them one after the other, it will be easier to finish well. It is true that multitasking is good, but being focused on one task per time may be better, because it will make you to channel all your energy into what you want to do, and it will make you to finish well. When you do a task and complete it, it will give you the zeal, motivation, and enthusiasm to go after the next task. But if you want to do everything at once, you may end up being discouraged.

You also need to learn how to handle setback. That you failed at an attempt does not mean that you should abandon your goal. The journey towards achieving your goals may come with its challenges, obstacles, mistakes, and other uncertainties, but they should not discourage you. In order to finish well, you should not allow temporary setbacks to define you. Instead you should learn from them, so as to have a better attempt the next time. If things do not go according to how you have planned, you should not give up, but keep going until you arrive your destination.
